Netflix film manager Niija Kuykendall is leaving the company after three years. She joined in October 2021 as Vice President of Films and headed a department for mid-size productions such as holiday, faith-based and youth films. Her departure at the end of the year was confirmed by Netflix, but no reason was given.

Doug Belgrad, another Netflix film vice president, praised Kuykendall for her collaborations with well-known filmmakers such as Tyler Perry and Denzel Washington, as well as her influence on films such as The Piano Lesson and Pain Hustlers. Previously, Kuykendall worked for 13 years as Executive VP at Warner Bros. where she oversaw projects such as A Star Is Born and Judas and the Black Messiah supervised.

Her move to Netflix took place under Scott Stuber, who was replaced by Dan Lin at the beginning of 2023. Lin reorganised the film department with a focus on quality and a strong production rate, as CEO Ted Sarandos emphasised.
