How the NDR press release Anja Günther will take over the position of cross-media editor-in-chief and the role of deputy director at NDR Landesfunkhaus Hamburg on 1 February 2025. She will succeed Ilka Steinhausen, who has been Programme Director of Norddeutscher Rundfunk since 1 January 2025.
Anja Günther is moving from the ARD capital city studio back to regional reporting. She has been instrumental in driving the cross-media transformation there in recent years. The editorial structure at the NDR regional broadcasting centre in Hamburg is also currently being comprehensively converted to cross-media working methods in order to make regional reporting even more effective and future-proof.
The 55-year-old was born in Kassel and studied English, politics and journalism in Göttingen. Anja Günther began her career as a journalist in 1996 at the NDR regional broadcasting centre in Hanover, initially in the sports department and later from 1999 in the newsroom. In 2001, she moved to the central newsroom in Hamburg before joining the ARD capital studio in Berlin as a correspondent in 2006. From the end of 2012, she worked as an ARD desk officer and later as a desk officer in the NDR radio directorate. She returned to the capital city studio in 2017, where she was CvD and lead coordinator of the joint radio editorial team.
Hendrik Lünenborg, Director of NDR Landesfunkhaus Hamburg, is delighted about the upcoming collaboration: "I am very much looking forward to Anja Günther, as she has excellent knowledge of the requirements of modern news reporting for different target groups and platforms. She stands for first-class journalism, has extensive experience in current affairs reporting and is a proven expert in the implementation of complex change processes in large editorial offices."
