Studiocanal has recently announced two significant personnel changes: Alex Hamilton has been appointed Chief International Officer, while Katheryn Needham has been promoted to CEO of Studiocanal UK.

In his new role as Chief International Officer, Hamilton will be responsible for Studiocanal's direct distribution and operations in nine European markets. In addition, he will also lead the company's Kids & Family business. Prior to his promotion, Hamilton was CEO of Studiocanal UK since 2020. Prior to that, he was President of International Film at Entertainment One UK from 2016 to 2019, where he led the film operations outside North America. He therefore brings with him extensive international experience, which he will now utilise in his new position.

Katheryn Needham, who succeeds Hamilton as CEO of Studiocanal UK, has previously worked as Managing Director of Studiocanal UK and was also interim CEO of the company's Kids & Family division. Needham is seen as a natural successor to Hamilton as she already has many years of experience and success in the UK market.

In a statement, Anna Marsh, CEO of Studiocanal and Deputy CEO of Canal+, emphasised that she was very proud of the promotions. She praised Hamilton's deep understanding of the industry and his outstanding work in furthering Studiocanal's global ambitions. Needham was also recognised for her nearly two decades of work at Studiocanal, which have made the company a leading independent distributor in the UK.

Last year, Studiocanal released several important films in the UK, including Wicked Little Letters, Back to Black, Paddington In Peru, We Live In Time, The Apprentice, Hard Truths and The Outrun. These publications underline the successful course that the company continues to pursue in the UK and at the same time provide a solid foundation for the international ambitions to come under Hamilton's leadership.
