Cristiano Ronaldo and director Matthew Vaughn found joint film studio UR-Marv
The world-famous football star Cristiano Ronaldo and the successful British director Matthew Vaughn have joined forces for an ambitious film project: UR-Marva new, independent film studio. The aim of the collaboration is to reshape the world of cinema - through a combination of innovative technology and traditional cinematography.
UR-Marv has already borne its first fruits: two Action films were completed under the direction of Ronaldo and Vaughn, and a third is currently in development. All three films are part of a coherent series. Details on the first film are to be announced shortly.
Matthew Vaughn, known for his unmistakable style in films such as Layer Cake, Kick-Ass, X-Men: First Class and the successful Kingsman-series, brings his extensive experience to the project. His talent for action-packed, humorous and visually impressive films makes him a formative figure in modern action cinema.
With UR-Marv, Cristiano Ronaldo shows once again that he is not just a visionary on the pitch. In addition to joining the Portuguese media group Medialivre (formerly Cofina Media) in October 2023, he expanded in August 2024 with his YouTube channel "UR Cristiano" his media presence. There, he provides personal insights and presents himself in new formats, such as challenges and lifestyle content.
Both partners emphasise their mutual appreciation: Vaughn describes Ronaldo as a "real-life superhero" who has written stories on the pitch that no screenwriter could invent. Ronaldo, on the other hand, speaks of an "exciting new phase" in his life in which he is treading new business paths.
With UR-Marv, Ronaldo and Vaughn not only want to produce exciting films, but also to cross the boundaries between sport, entertainment and media - and thus open a new chapter in the interface between Hollywood and top global sport.
