Björn Böhning is returning to the federal government. As part of the new coalition agreement between the SPD and the CDU/CSU, which was approved by a large majority of the SPD base, he is to become a civil servant state secretary in the Federal Ministry of Finance. Under the new Finance Minister and Vice-Chancellor Lars Klingbeil, Böhning will be responsible in particular for government coordination - a role that de facto puts him in charge of an unofficial "Vice-Chancellor's Office". This gives him a central position in future government action.
