The German Film Academy has welcomed 34 new members to its ranks this year, once again expanding its network of filmmakers. The new members come from all creative areas of the industry - from directing and producing to acting and screenwriting.

The new members include well-known names such as director Tim Fehlbaum, producer and journalist Sandra Maischberger, director Ibrahim Nash'at, screenwriter Moritz Binder and actors Emma Nova and Simon Morzé. The Academy is thus once again demonstrating its openness to a diverse and creative composition of its members.

In addition, two personalities were honoured as honorary members: Kirsten Niehuus, former managing director of Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg and new president of the German Federal Film Board (FFA), and Rainer Rother, former director of the Deutsche Kinemathek.

With over 2,400 members from all areas of film production - including cinematography, editing, music, production design, VFX, make-up, costume design, casting, documentary and animated film as well as sound design - the German Film Academy remains the central network for filmmakers in Germany. Its members also play a decisive role in selecting the winners of the German Film Awards in a total of 18 categories.

The complete list of new members is available on the website of the German Film Academy.
