Spanish content studio Secuoya Studios is continuing its international expansion by bringing industry expert Alfredo Bermúdez de Castro on board as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO). The former manager of Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios will manage the company's operational processes and drive forward the organisational development of the various business areas.

Bermúdez de Castro brings more than 15 years of experience in senior positions in the entertainment industry. At Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, his responsibilities included negotiating Amazon Original productions, content acquisitions and coordinating cross-functional teams. He previously worked as a Senior Associate at the international law firm Andersen and Écija. The lawyer holds a double degree in law and international business administration.

Secuoya Studios intends to strengthen its international ambitions with this new position. The company is already active in Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Chile and the USA and plans to further expand its content in Europe, Latin America and North America. Bermúdez de Castro said: "Joining Secuoya Studios is an exciting opportunity to support a pioneering project. My goal is to drive efficiency, innovation and the international expansion of the group."

Secuoya Studios also presented its pod-based production strategy at the Iberseries & Platino Industria industry event in Madrid. This utilises creative and production teams of local talent to produce and distribute content in an agile, efficient and cross-location manner.

Secuoya Studios is also pursuing the goal of increasingly realising English-language projects. In February, the company entered into a strategic first-look partnership with the London-based production studio BlackBox Multimedia. In the long term, around 30 per cent of annual sales are to be generated with productions in languages other than Spanish.

With Bermúdez de Castro as COO, Secuoya Studios intends to further consolidate its position as an international content studio and expand its production capacities globally.
