The Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg (FABW) is focussing its training and research more strongly on the current technological changes in the film and media industry. The focus is particularly on artificial intelligence, virtual production and new digital production and narrative forms.

The aim is to prepare students for changing professional profiles at an early stage and to link creative processes more closely with technological developments. The programme will remain project-based, but will be expanded to include additional skills such as the use of AI tools, new production workflows and entrepreneurial approaches.

A central component is the Carl Laemmle Institute for Research and Media Innovation, which works at the interface of film art and technology and aims to strengthen the transfer between creative practice and applied research. FABW also supports start-up and innovation projects in the university's neighbourhood.

The production infrastructure is also being further developed: Virtual production environments and digital studio technologies are intended to create practical learning conditions and reflect new production methods. The FABW is also focussing on international cooperation and stronger networking with the film and media industry.

The Film Academy is thus positioning itself as a centre for training and innovation in the changing global media production industry.
