A major international production is currently underway in Bavaria: the action thriller „Left Seat“ is currently being filmed under the direction of Ben Younger - with a prominent cast around Michelle Rodriguez and Richard Gere.

The film tells the story of a woman (Rodriguez) who suddenly has to take control of an aircraft in an extremely exceptional situation. After the captain on board fails, she has no choice but to take the controls herself. She receives radio support from an experienced pilot (Gere), who navigates her through the crisis.

The film is being directed by Ben Younger, who has flying experience himself and wants to create an authentic setting. The film is currently being shot in Bavaria, which is once again coming into focus as a location for international film productions.

„Left Seat“ is a German-American co-production. Among others, augenschein Filmproduktion, A/Vantage Pictures and Mandalay Pictures are involved. Production services in Germany are being provided by Bavaria Fiction. The project is supported by the FilmFernsehFonds Bayern (FFF Bayern) and the German Federal Film Fund (DFFF).

The film is also being distributed internationally: PLAION PICTURES is handling German distribution, while ANTON is responsible for world sales. In the USA, the project is co-represented by WME.

With the current filming phase in Bavaria, „Left Seat“ combines a high-calibre Hollywood cast with European production infrastructure - another example of the growing importance of international co-productions in Germany.
