Sky Deutschland is continuing to restructure its film and sports offering. As the company has now announced, two linear film channels will be renamed and more clearly positioned in terms of content from 19 May. At the same time, „WOW Live-Sport Young“, a new streaming offer for young adults, will be launched.

Sky Cinema Highlights„ will become “Sky Cinema Blockbuster„ in future. The channel will focus on major Hollywood productions, well-known film series and award-winning popular successes. “Sky Cinema Family„ will be continued under the new name “Sky Cinema Feelgood„ and will focus on comedies, family films, animations, romances and dramas.

According to Sky, the new channel names are intended to make it easier to find your way around the range of films on offer and to emphasise the profiles of the individual channels more clearly. The existing channels „Sky Cinema Premiere“, „Sky Cinema Action“ and „Sky Cinema Classics“ will be retained. In addition, Sky will introduce a revised channel design from 5 May, which is based on the current brand identity in the UK.

Michaela Tarantino, Vice President Cinema and Sky Store at Sky Deutschland, explained: „With the two new channel names, we are creating a clearer home for our content - making it even easier for viewers to find their way around.“

Sky is also expanding its range of streaming services. With „WOW Live-Sport Young“, a live sports subscription specially tailored to 18 to 26-year-olds is being launched for the first time. The offer costs EUR 24.99 per month for a twelve-month term and includes the Bundesliga, Bundesliga 2, DFB Cup, Premier League, Formula 1, MotoGP and selected broadcasts from the NHL, NBA, tennis and golf.

Sky justifies the new model with the growing price sensitivity of younger target groups. Jill Harkness, Vice President Commercial at Sky Deutschland, explained: „With the U27 offer, we are taking a first step towards making access to our live sports offering more attractive for them and appealing to new target groups.“
