The former Sky manager Caterina Preti will become the new Managing Director of Sky Austria. It thus follows on from Michael Radelsberger, which, as part of the forthcoming integration of Sky Deutschland into RTL Germany will be joining the management board of RTL Deutschland as Chief Consumer Officer in future.
This appointment is directly linked to the takeover of Sky Deutschland (DACH) by the RTL Group, which is expected to be finalised on 1 June 2026, subject to approval by the European Commission. The aim of the merger is to strengthen RTL and Sky’s position in the European streaming, sport and entertainment market vis-à-vis international platforms.
Preti has been part of Sky’s management team for several years and most recently held a senior position overseeing strategic and operational aspects of the Austrian business. With her appointment, Sky is prioritising continuity during a period of far-reaching structural changes within the DACH organisation.
In parallel with the new appointments in Austria, RTL Germany is restructuring its senior management. In addition to Stephan Schmitter As CEO, they should also Elke Walthelm and Michael Radelsberger will join the new management team.
With around 12.3 million paying subscribers across RTL+, Sky and WOW, the merger will create one of the largest media and streaming companies in the German-speaking world.
