The journalists and producers Dinah Rothenberg and Viola Funk have set up the production company slowly media founded. The company develops and produces documentary audio and film formats, focusing on investigative journalism and socially relevant topics. According to the founders, the name is inspired by the concept of „slow journalism“ and represents an approach that emphasises context, depth and long-term research.
Through slowly media, Rothenberg and Funk aim to develop documentary stories that shed light on complex social issues and present them in a nuanced way. The company’s ethos is underpinned by journalistic rigour, ethical storytelling and a long-term perspective on relevant issues.
As well as developing its own productions, slowly media also offers support to editorial teams, media companies and organisations in developing narrative audio formats. Its range of services extends from strategic development and concept creation through to the establishment of long-term production structures.
The new company has offices in Berlin and Essen and focuses primarily on the German-speaking market, although it also operates internationally. Among its first published projects is the feature report „Fortress Europe: The Fight for Refugees in Greece“.
With the launch of slowly media, Rothenberg and Funk are expanding their work in the field of documentary storytelling and will in future be operating as independent producers of audio and film projects.
