Amazon MGM Studios has appointed Julie Rapaport and Alana Mayo to jointly lead the film division. Both will take on the role of Head of Film, Production & Development and will report to Courtenay Valenti, Head of Film, Streaming and Theatrical.

Rapaport and Mayo are each expected to oversee around 15 films a year. The portfolio covers all genres and includes both cinema releases and films for streaming services. This division is not intended to create separate teams: senior staff in the production and development departments will continue to work with both executives.

In addition, Rapaport and Mayo are to coordinate their work more closely with the marketing, content strategy, finance, public relations, cinema distribution and Prime Video departments. Julie Rapaport has been with Amazon since 2015 and has been involved in films such as „Road House“, „Saltburn“ and „Project Hail Mary“. Alana Mayo continues to head Orion Pictures, a role she has held since 2020.

According to its own figures, Amazon MGM Studios produces more than 30 films a year for cinema and streaming.
