Ivo Batic (Miroslav Nemec) and Franz Leitmayr (Udo Wachtveitl) are just four days away from retirement after 35 years of service together. But before their farewell, a female corpse is found in a municipal utility room deep beneath Munich’s St.-Quirin-Platz – burned beyond recognition. Who was the victim? Who had access to this non-public area, which clearly isn’t the actual crime scene? And how are they supposed to solve a case in just a few days when they can’t even identify the victim at first? Must Franz and Ivo end their long, successful careers with an unsolved case? The detectives are faced with an extremely tricky situation. But giving up is not an option. To crack the case, Batic and Leitmayr even cross professional boundaries. They eventually discover that a murderous phantom has been sneaking unnoticed through Munich’s apartment buildings – but together with Kalli Hammermann (Ferdinand Hofer), who wants to take over the case from his superiors, they draw the wrong conclusions. Events spiral out of control, and in the end, the investigators face an entire network of criminal violence with no way out. It almost seems as if true legends never really get to retire.
