VTFF adopts modernised statutes, two more women join the Executive Board. Dramatic appeal from the general meeting: politicians must stop the death of service providers and finally introduce a tax-based incentive model. Prominent guests attend the 75th anniversary ceremony. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>

Berlin, 15 October 2024:<\/em> Exactly 75 years to the day after it was founded on 14 October 1949, the Association of Technical Film and Television Companies (VTFF) met for its annual general meeting in Wuppertal. The traditional association of technical and creative service providers then celebrated its anniversary at the trendy Open Ground club. The laudatory speech for retiring board members was given by the President of the\u00a0<\/em>Filmf\u00f6rderanstalt (FFA) and former Minister of State, Prof. Dr h.c. Bernd Neumann. Bj\u00f6rn B\u00f6hning, Spokesman of the Board of the Production Alliance, gave the keynote speech.<\/p>

One of the most important resolutions passed at the general meeting was the adoption of the association's modernised statutes. In addition to the existing Studio, Postproduction, Rental and Outside Broadcasting groups, it provides for new groups for fundus operations, visual effects (VFX) and virtual studios as well as personnel recruiting under the umbrella of the VTFF. The VTFF is thus adapting to changes in the market and opening up even more clearly to other trades within the service industry.<\/p>

In addition, the meeting agreed with the demand of other industry associations that at least 50 per cent of public broadcasters' contribution income must flow into programme production. In addition, the VTFF once again demanded that ARD and ZDF consistently outsource technical services to the free market for reasons of efficiency (e.g. OB vans, post-production image and sound). Unused real estate and, in particular, underutilised studio capacities should be liquidated.\u00a0<\/p>

In addition, the general meeting supported the management's proposal to downgrade membership of the umbrella organisation Spitzenorganisation der Filmwirtschaft e. V. (SPIO) from ordinary to extraordinary member. This means that the VTFF will only have observer status in future.<\/p>

The VTFF is very critical of the current development in the SPIO with the reduction of competences and criticises the control of the umbrella organisation by only four cinema and distribution associations. This harbours a high \"conflict of interest\" potential.<\/p>

Last but not least, the VTFF members' meeting formulated a unanimous and powerful appeal to state and federal politicians. They should adopt an effective incentive model (tax incentive) this year as part of the overall reform of film funding in order to put Germany back on the international map as a production location. This is the only way to restore the competitiveness of film and series productions. Many technical service providers would not survive another year with empty order books, empty studios and underutilised capacities. \"The death of service providers has already begun,\" explained VTFF Managing Director Achim Rohnke. \"Politicians must finally kick-start the turbo.\" The VTFF has been campaigning for a tax incentive model for film and series productions for years. \u00a0<\/p>

There have been some significant changes within the VTFF Board. Charlie Woebcken and Christian Sommer, both long-standing board members, have stepped down from the VTFF board. They were made honorary members of the association. The laudatory speech in honour of Woebcken and Sommer's many years of service was given by the current FFA President Bernd Neumann.<\/p>

In the by-election, Andrea Peters, CEO of Theaterkunst GmbH, and Andrea Br\u00fcggemann, CEO of Buch Mich GmbH, were elected to the board. The new VTFF board now consists of three men and four women - another sign of renewal and diversity in the association's 75th year of existence. \"With the partial replacement of the Executive Board, the VTFF has achieved a very good handover,\" explained Chairman of the Executive Board Stefan Hoff. In its long history, the association has always managed to inspire people, reinvent itself and provide fresh impetus. After the Annual General Meeting, the VTFF celebrated its 75th anniversary at the globally acclaimed Wuppertal club Open Ground.<\/p>

The Verband Technischer Betriebe f\u00fcr Film und Fernsehen e.V. is the nationwide mouthpiece and network of technical-creative service companies for film, television and other audiovisual productions. Its member companies come from the fields of outside broadcasting, camera and lighting hire, fundus, sound\/studio, virtual production and post-production\/VFX and represent over half of the market volume.<\/em><\/p>
