The decision is intended to improve networking, concentrate the events and bring fresh energy. At the same time, there are concerns as the independent film market continues to shrink. Genre film takes centre stage as the industry comes together to address current challenges.<\/h4>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-74b76af4 elementor-widget__width-initial elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"74b76af4\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The American Film Market (AFM) has relocated from Los Angeles to Las Vegas in 2024 to create a more centralised and energetic atmosphere. All events - from film screenings to panels and networking - will now take place at the Palms Casino Resort, which should reduce logistical challenges and give attendees more time for business interactions. The new location has attracted international interest, with representatives from 80 countries and over 280 companies registered.<\/p>\n<p>In terms of film trends, genre films dominate, especially horror and action, which are attracting great interest from buyers due to their strong target groups and lower risks. Projects such as George A. Romero's latest zombie film project and high-calibre action films such as <em>Cleaner<\/em> and <em>The Last Druid<\/em> attract attention.<\/p>\n<p>However, the higher costs for exhibitors in Las Vegas have caused displeasure, as the rents for the Palms suites are significantly more expensive than in the previous Santa Monica locations.<\/p>\n<p>With the introduction of a formal market in Toronto in 2026, AFM may face increased competition, which raises the question of whether the two markets can continue to be attended in parallel in the future.
