On 3 April 2025, producer Martin Heisler was elected as the new Chairman of the Board of the German Film Academy. Heisler succeeds Benjamin Herrmann, whose term of office ends after five terms in accordance with the Academy's statutes.<\/p>

In his first statement, Heisler emphasised the upcoming challenges and opportunities for the film industry: \"In the coming years, the framework conditions for the film industry will continue to change fundamentally - and hopefully improve with the film funding reform. The Filmakademie plays a decisive role in this, also as a mediator between the industry and politics and as an umbrella organisation for all trades. The Film Academy is dedicated to important artistic, economic and socio-political issues beyond the film prize and is a place where the challenges of the film industry are considered and solutions are sought that serve the goal of further strengthening German cinema in its diversity, quality and perception. I would like to thank my colleagues for their trust and look forward to working together.\"<\/p>

Martin Heisler will make his first official appearance on 5 April 2025 at the German Film Award nominees' evening. Five weeks before the 75th award ceremony, the nominated filmmakers will be guests at the Fotografiska in the former Tacheles in Berlin.<\/p>

The Presidium of the German Film Academy, consisting of Vicky Krieps and Florian Gallenberger, welcomes Heisler's election: \"We wish Martin Heisler a lot of energy for his honorary position, congratulate him on his election and look forward to working with him. German cinema is facing exciting and important tasks in the context of the fast pace of our digital world, media competition and cultural and socio-political discourse. We are delighted that an internationally active, experienced producer like Martin Heisler is heading the Film Academy in this important role.\"<\/p>

Martin Heisler, born in Aachen in 1977 and a graduate of the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (dffb), has been a partner, managing director and producer at Flare Film GmbH since 2008. His production company is known for producing feature films and documentaries as well as high-quality TV series for cinema and television. Since 2021, Flare Film has been part of STUDIO TF1, one of the largest production and distribution groups in Europe. Heisler has already been nominated twice for the German Film Award and has worked with renowned directors such as \u0130lker \u00c7atak, David Dietl and Bastian G\u00fcnther. His most recent projects include the production of Circus child<\/em> (Berlinale 2025) and Punching the world with your fist<\/em>which premiered in the Berlinale section \"Perspectives\".<\/p>

Heisler has been a member of the board of the German Film Academy since 2019 and represents the Academy in the film policy working group and on the administrative board of the German Federal Film Board (FFA), among other things.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
