Disney+ has appointed Angela Jain as the new Head of Content for the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. In her new role, she will be responsible for the content strategy for local in-house productions on Disney+. This will include commissioning new formats, production management, commercial affairs and branded content buying. Jain will report directly to Eric Schrier, President of Disney Television Studios and responsible for global original strategy.<\/p>

Eric Schrier welcomed the appointment, saying: \"Angela's appointment is a key part of our strategy to expand the local production offering on Disney+. Her extensive experience will help build on our success to date and further strengthen our content with stories from the region that perfectly complement our global blockbusters.\"<\/p>

Angela Jain herself is looking forward to the new role: \"The opportunity to come to Disney, to work in commissioning again and to be part of Eric Schrier's team is simply irresistible. The vision and commitment to more original content is inspiring. I look forward to working with outstanding creative talent and producing content of the highest quality for Disney+.\"<\/p>

At the same time, she bid farewell to her previous employer with warm words: \"I am very grateful to ITV for many successful years. I will miss the exceptional teams and colleagues there very much.\"<\/p>

In the past nine months, Disney+ Originals from the EMEA region such as \"Rivals\", \"The Stolen Girl\", \"bref.2\", \"This Is Not Hollywood\" and \"Invisible\" have enjoyed great success and have even been honoured or nominated by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA). Further promising productions are planned for the future, including \"The Lost Station Girls\", \"Alice and Steve\" and \"Call My Agent Berlin\".<\/p>

Angela Jain brings with her many years of experience in the television industry - including in the areas of channel management, programme commissioning and production. At ITV, she held various management positions, including Managing Director of Lifted Entertainment and most recently as the first Director of Unscripted U.K.. There she oversaw eleven production companies that developed successful formats worldwide. As head of ITV2, she was also responsible for formats such as \"Love Island\", \"Plebs\" and \"The Big Reunion\". At E4, she was also responsible for series such as \"The Inbetweeners\", \"Misfits\" and \"Dead Set\" and secured popular US formats such as \"Glee\" and \"The Big Bang Theory\". Before her time at ITV, Jain worked as a freelance producer in various TV genres.<\/p>
