As part of this partnership, Sony will take over the international theatrical distribution of four of the studio's upcoming films until March 2026. Amazon MGM's long-term goal is to establish its own distribution structure abroad.

It all starts with the film After the Hunt by director Luca Guadagnino, which opens in selected cinemas in the USA on 10 October and will be released more widely from 17 October. The psychological drama starring Julia Roberts, Ayo Edebiri and Andrew Garfield centres on the consequences of a serious accusation made by a student against a professor.

Other films that Sony will distribute internationally are

Mercya thriller starring Chris Pratt, which opens in US cinemas on 23 January 2026,

Crime 101a Heist film starring Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo and Halle Berry, which will be released in North America on 13 February 2026,

Project Hail Marya science fiction adaptation of the novel by Andy Weir starring Ryan Gosling.
