Berlin, 15 September 2025 - After eleven years at the helm of the German Federal Film Board (FFA), Bernd Neumann has officially taken his leave. Minister of State for Culture and the Media, Wolfram Weimer, honoured the outgoing President at a festive reception at the German Parliamentary Society in Berlin. Around 150 guests from the film industry and politics attended the event to celebrate Neumann's achievements.

Neumann, who did not run for office again, leaves behind an impressive legacy: under his leadership, the German Federal Film Fund (DFFF) was established in 2007 - an instrument that is now considered one of the most successful impulses for the German film industry. Weimer described Neumann as a "bridge builder for German film", who made a significant contribution to strengthening the international competitiveness of German productions and at the same time promoting national film culture.

"Bernd Neumann has demonstrated vision and drive that have had a lasting impact on German film funding," said Weimer in his speech. "His commitment has opened up new perspectives for many filmmakers and strengthened Germany's position in the international film business."

Neumann's departure marks the end of an era of continuity and strategic foresight at the FFA. The industry is looking forward to the successor and how film funding will be further developed in the coming years.

Bernd Neumann's resignation not only marks the end of a successful term of office, but also a moment of reflection on the role of film funding as a driver of the creative industries in Germany.
