Los Angeles, 8 October 2025<\/strong> - Cinema United, the international alliance of leading cinema operators, has elected Mike Bowers, President and CEO of Harkins Theatres, as the new Chairman of its Executive Board. Bowers takes over at a crucial time for the global cinema industry, which is reshaping itself after years of change and increasingly focussing on innovation and collaborative strategies.<\/p>

Bowers, who has worked in the film and cinema industry for over two decades, is considered a committed advocate of cinema culture and a driving force for modern audience experiences. Under his leadership, Harkins Theatres - one of the largest family-run cinema chains in the USA - has invested in new technologies, convenience concepts and local film promotion in recent years.<\/p>

\"I look forward to working with our partners at Cinema United to actively shape the future of cinema,\" Bowers said in a statement. \"Our goal is to continue to develop the magic of the shared film experience while creating economically sustainable pathways for our members.\"<\/p>
