Changes to TV and radio stations, sports programmes and cooperation between the broadcasters could have a direct impact on the media and film industry in future.<\/h4>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-74b76af4 elementor-widget__width-initial elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"74b76af4\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p data-start=\"295\" data-end=\"614\">On Wednesday, the Saxon state parliament passed the reform treaty for public broadcasting and improved youth media protection. Saxony thus plays an important role on the way to the nationwide implementation of the treaty, which must first be ratified by all state parliaments.<\/p><p data-start=\"616\" data-end=\"1133\">The vote was particularly critical for the minority government made up of the CDU and SPD. They lacked the necessary votes for their own majority. They received support from the opposition parties, the Greens and the Left Party. The AfD and BSW had previously spoken out against the reform. According to the Left Party, a rejection would have been \"a defeat for democracy\". At the same time, the parliamentary group praised Minister President Michael Kretschmer, who had promised increased dialogue on the topic of public broadcasting.<\/p><p data-start=\"1135\" data-end=\"1290\">The reform treaty aims to create a more efficient structure for the public broadcasters ARD, ZDF and Deutschlandradio. The plans include<\/p><ul data-start=\"1291\" data-end=\"1535\"><li data-start=\"1291\" data-end=\"1345\"><p data-start=\"1293\" data-end=\"1345\">Reduction of TV speciality channels and radio stations<\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"1346\" data-end=\"1392\"><p data-start=\"1348\" data-end=\"1392\">Measures for the consolidation of offers<\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"1393\" data-end=\"1435\"><p data-start=\"1395\" data-end=\"1435\">Capping expenditure on sports rights<\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"1436\" data-end=\"1535\"><p data-start=\"1438\" data-end=\"1535\">Clearer definition of the broadcasting mandate and promotion of cooperation between the broadcasters<\/p><\/li><\/ul><p data-start=\"1537\" data-end=\"2077\">These points are of direct interest to the film and media industry. A possible reduction in specialised channels and radio stations can have an impact on production orders and content strategies. At the same time, increased cooperation between broadcasters opens up opportunities for joint productions and more efficient use of resources. Offerings such as the children's channel KiKA were also discussed in the run-up to the vote, which may be relevant for producers of children's and educational content.<\/p><p data-start=\"2079\" data-end=\"2391\">Before the vote, Minister President Kretschmer emphasised the importance of public broadcasting as a \"central pillar of the country\" and addressed the opposition parties directly. He also addressed points of criticism, such as the press-like nature of individual programmes and the role of KiKA in the region.<\/p><p data-start=\"2393\" data-end=\"2777\">With Saxony's approval, only three federal states are still outstanding for the full implementation of the reform treaty, where majorities are considered secure according to the state parliament.
