Berlin, 13 November 2025<\/strong> - The technical and creative service providers in the German film and TV industry are under massive pressure. 63 % of the companies view their economic situation critically and expectations for 2026 are gloomy. At the annual general meeting of the Association of Technical Companies for Film and Television (VTFF)<\/strong> in Erfurt, concrete measures have now been adopted to strengthen the sector.<\/p>

New network for more influence and cooperation<\/h4>

Central project: the \"VTFF Network Media Production\"<\/strong>. It is intended to connect technical and creative trades such as sound, camera, editing and make-up with other professional organisations. The aim is to create a common political voice, greater visibility and an efficient exchange of knowledge and resources.<\/p>

VTFF Managing Director Achim Rohnke<\/strong> explains: \"Technical companies are crucial for innovation and quality in the entire industry. With a network, we can significantly strengthen our position.\"<\/p>

Support from Minister of State for Culture Weimer<\/h4>

Cultural and political support comes from Dr Wolfram Weimer<\/strong>Minister of State for Culture, who joined us via video. He announced funding in the amount of 250 million euros from 2026<\/strong> to make Germany internationally competitive as a production location. \"The technical-creative service providers are the enablers behind the scenes. Without their technology and vision, there would be no magic,\" says Weimer.<\/p>

Demands on politicians and funding agencies<\/h4>

The VTFF is calling for the rapid release of funding for 2026 and is in favour of lowering the entry barriers for film funding. Together with other industry associations, the association had already previously commented on the amendments to the guidelines of the DFFF II<\/strong> taken.<\/p>

Chairman of the Management Board Stefan Hoff<\/strong> takes stock: \"With our resolutions, the VTFF is once again showing that we can advance the industry as a community of solidarity.
