As part of the Austrian Cinema Awards 2025, the BMWKMS is launching a one-off special call to support regional cinemas and film clubs in particular with investments - an important boost for the Austrian cinema landscape outside the cities.<\/h4>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

As part of the awarding of the Austrian Cinema Awards 2025<\/strong> On 18 December, the Federal Ministry of Housing, Arts, Culture, Media and Sport (BMWKMS)<\/strong> announced a one-off special funding programme. The aim of the funding programme is to Film clubs, one-room cinemas and venues outside urban centres<\/strong> support with investments.<\/p>

With this special call, the ministry is responding to the particular challenges faced by smaller and regional cinemas, which often have fewer resources for structural modernisation, technical upgrades or programme expansions. \"We want to ensure that film culture remains alive outside the big cities and that arthouse cinemas have a future,\" says a BMWKMS spokesperson.<\/p>

Interested cinemas and film clubs can submit funding applications as part of the special call, with the focus on measures that Infrastructure, technical equipment and visitor friendliness<\/strong> improve. For the industry, this means an opportunity to realise necessary investments and strengthen regional film offerings in the long term.<\/p>
