Several British politicians have criticised the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA)<\/strong> requested that the planned takeover of Warner Bros. Discovery through Netflix<\/strong> under antitrust law. In an official letter, they warn that the deal could jeopardise the Competitive conditions in the film and streaming industry<\/strong> could change significantly.<\/p>

The merger of the two industry giants is expected to result in around 83 billion US dollars<\/strong> and is considered one of the largest transactions in the global media landscape. Critics fear that such a strong concentration could significantly restrict the diversity of content, the negotiating power of cinemas and producers as well as consumer choice.<\/p>

In their letter, the British MEPs draw attention to possible negative effects on competition<\/strong> including the dominance of a single streaming service for popular film franchises and series.
