Berlin, 12 February 2026 - Under the motto \"Stronger together: Germany's film industry in international competition\", the Production Alliance brought together around 650 representatives from politics, business and the national and international film industry at the German Producers' Day 2026. The conference focussed on the announced doubling of economic film funding, an investment commitment for the market and structural issues for the future of the industry.<\/p>\n

The CEO and Spokeswoman of the Board of the Production Alliance, Michelle M\u00fcntefering<\/span><\/span>, described the planned investment commitment as a positive signal. The present model is a compromise that enables partnership and creates more fairness. At the same time, she was in favour of a higher investment quota. She particularly favoured the planned retention of rights for producers.<\/p>\n

Minister of State for Culture Wolfram Weimer<\/span><\/span> announced a doubling of economic film funding and an investment pact for Germany as a film location in his keynote speech on film policy. He also referred to a reorganisation of cultural film funding, measures to promote talent and new cultural cinema funding. The aim is to strengthen competitiveness against international providers. Weimer also emphasised the importance of a stronger focus on audience success, which he did not see as pure market logic but also as a democratic aspiration.<\/p>\n

Vice-Chancellor and Federal Minister of Finance Lars Klingbeil<\/span><\/span> emphasised the economic importance of Germany as a film location. The doubling of funding and the investment pact should improve the framework conditions for the German and European film industry. At the same time, he emphasised that companies that are economically successful on the German and European markets should contribute more to the funding. The aim is to attract more productions to Germany and Europe, make European content more visible in streaming and strengthen independent producers.<\/p>\n

In addition to the political speeches, the conference offered several expert panels and keynotes. Discussions included the use of artificial intelligence in film and series production as well as perspectives for cinema film production. International impetus was provided by contributions from industry representatives from the USA and Australia. Members of the German parliament from various political groups also took part in a film policy round table.<\/p>\n

The German Producers' Day is regarded as the central media and film policy conference in Germany and regularly serves as a forum for dialogue between the industry and politicians on regulatory and economic framework conditions.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t
