This is the result of an official announcement by the <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">German Bundestag<\/span><\/span> (HIB newsflash) from 25 February 2026.<\/p><p data-start=\"880\" data-end=\"1206\">Minister of State for Culture <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Wolfram Weimer<\/span><\/span> informed the Bundestag's Culture Committee that he had convened the meeting in his capacity as Chairman of the KBB Supervisory Board. The purpose was <strong data-start=\"1096\" data-end=\"1203\">Consultation on the future of the festival and the reappraisal of the events during the 76th Berlinale<\/strong>.<\/p><p data-start=\"1208\" data-end=\"1773\">The press release emphasises that the meeting will take place after the festival, which recently ended in Berlin. According to the official information, the purpose of the meeting is to discuss the general direction of the Berlinale. The announcement does not contain any details on agenda items or possible personnel decisions. Weimer rejected media reports that decisions had already been made regarding the position of director and explained that not everything that is being spread in the press is true.<\/p><p data-start=\"1775\" data-end=\"2008\">Kulturveranstaltungen des Bundes in Berlin GmbH is the state-owned company that organises the festival and is under the supervision of the federal government. The Minister of State for Culture chairs the Supervisory Board.<\/p><p data-start=\"2010\" data-end=\"2250\">The extraordinary meeting is therefore a <strong data-start=\"2054\" data-end=\"2125\">institutional response to the latest developments at the festival<\/strong>which have attracted public attention.
