With the end of the 24-hour channel, Prime Video is bringing to a close an experiment that was intended to bridge the gap between traditional television and streaming. At the same time, the company remains committed to on-demand services, live TV and FAST channels.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The Prime TV linear channel was launched as a curated selection of programmes within the Prime Video platform. The aim was to make it easier for users to access Amazon\u2019s extensive streaming catalogue and to present selected films, series and shows in a similar way to a traditional TV channel. After around a year and a half, Amazon is now discontinuing the service.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Amazon emphasises that the content from the discontinued channel will remain available on demand via Prime Video. Furthermore, other live TV services on the platform, as well as more than 500 FAST (Free Ad-supported Streaming TV) channels, remain unaffected and will continue to be available to Prime Video users.<\/p><p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The decision highlights a broader trend in the streaming market: whilst platforms have increasingly experimented with linear programming in recent years, the focus is shifting back towards flexible viewing options, personalised recommendations and the bundling of various entertainment offerings within a single platform.<\/p><p>For Amazon, this means a greater focus on its role as an entertainment aggregator.
