A Man of the World follows Ranuccio Bianchi Bandinelli, a brilliant Italian archaeologist and anti-fascist striving to preserve art while avoiding politics as fascism tightens its grip. In May 1938, he is forced to serve as the official guide for Hitler and Mussolini during their high-profile tour of Rome and Florence. Pressured by the regime and bound by duty, Ranuccio reluctantly accepts—only to be approached by the resistance with a chance to eliminate both dictators at once. Over one tense week, he confronts an agonizing moral dilemma: remain a scholar of beauty or risk everything to change the course of history.
