Neri Marcorè plays the role of Enzo Baroni, an antenna operator from Centocelle who suddenly disappears. When he returns, several months later, even his wife Teresa (Carlotta Natoli) struggles to recognize him: he is wearing an Indian mundu , has a long beard and the seraphic air of a holy man. No one knows where he has been nor does he explain it and perhaps ignore it. But, now that he has this appearance, the inhabitants of the neighborhood seem to listen to him, indeed they all hang on his lips: the old phrases of popular Roman wisdom that Enzo had been pronouncing for a lifetime now appear as maxims of acute depth. These and a fortuitous series of coincidences transform the aerialist first into a neighborhood guru, then of all of
Rome. The story attracts the attention of Jacqueline (Rossella Brescia), a television agent who smells the deal and would like to make Enzo a star. In a short time the antenna operator became for everyone "the Santone di Centocelle", known as Oscio.
