JAQUELINE (25) is small in stature. She does a great job as a patissière in her mother's hotel ESMA (50). But that's not Jaqueline's true passion. Actually, she always wanted to be an actress. At every opportunity she sneaks into the theatre to secretly watch rehearsals. When an actress in the upcoming play drops out, her dream comes within reach. Jaqueline thinks she is the ideal cast, auditions at the theatre - and she actually gets the part. But Esma must not find out about it. She has always been afraid that Jaqueline might be put on show and paraded because of her disability. When Jaqueline notices that the director keeps cutting her role, she has to fight to be taken seriously. At least there is fellow actor MERLIN (26) to back her up. Tender feelings develop between the two. Between challenging theatre rehearsals and exhausting preparations for a wedding party at the hotel, Jaqueline tries to reconcile her two worlds. In the end, she has to stand up for herself against prejudice, resentment, her own bias - and, for the first time in her life, against her mother.
