1899. Hautes Alpes “Soudain” is a hamlet surrounded by snow on the high plateaus of a remote mountain. Its inhabitants see the arrival, one stormy night, of Aimée, a young Republican teacher, who will stay for the winter to teach a handful of children. But as she gradually blends into the life of the community, an avalanche engulfs a first mountaineer.
