Anne Merz (Annette Frier) wants to start an event agency with Jonas (Nikolaus Benda), the new man at her side. Unfortunately, she doesn't have the money, so her premature inheritance is to be finalised at a notary appointment with her father Ludwig (Michael Wittenborn), who suffers from dementia. To the horror of Anne's unsuspecting mother Maria (Claudia Rieschel), Ludwig drops a bombshell at the appointment: There is an illegitimate daughter (Anne Weinknecht) who is also entitled to the inheritance. Of course Anne is not going to take this lying down. She steps into the ring - for her money and for her father's love. While ex-husband Erik (Christoph Maria Herbst) and his parents Renate (Carmen-Maja Antoni) and Günter (Bernd Stegemann) get heavily involved in the family squabble, son Leon (Philip Noah Schwarz) is in trouble with his wife Soraya (Süheyla Ünlü) and her ex Rico (David Hürten).
