1990. A country is erased from the map. Amid the turmoil surrounding the fall of the Berlin Wall, the father of 15-year-old Anna disappears in Berlin. She will never see him again. Twenty years later, during the banking crisis, people in Reykjavík, Iceland are fighting for their survival. Anna, now a police officer in Iceland, learns that her father’s remains have been found and travels back to Germany. VANISHED tells the story of three generations of women struggling for a new beginning within our fragile old systems. The confrontation between old and new powers reaches its climax when the eruption of Eyjafjallajökull almost prevents Anna from returning to Iceland in time to save her daughter and avert a catastrophe.
