The Mountain Bride takes place at the end of World War II, in a small village high up in the Italian Dolomites. It’s the story of how the lives of a teacher’s family change forever with the arrival of a fugitive soldier. The story is told from the three daughters' point of view, showing their metamorphosis as they are forced to grow up following their encounter with the deserter. The war is always in the background, and the movie focuses on all the people — the elderly, children and women — who didn’t go to the front but were still affected by the war.
