Lawyer Maria "Mai" Gardner (Julia Hartmann) moves from Berlin to the remote Vogtland region for an assignment. The people here are headstrong, but with a heart. No one needs a lawyer from the big city who complicates everything, but Mai's arrival causes a fabric to slip. She decides to stay in Vogtland, takes on cases and renovates a house - and she practices shooting. Because there's a reason Mai doesn't want to go back to Berlin and brings her 15-year-old son Kaleb (Jashan Gupta) to live with her: she's on the run from her violent husband Bo (Kai Schumann). (ZDF)
