Producer - Tobis Film

After completing his acting studies at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and his first roles in film and television, Timm Oberwelland founded Los Angeles-based Zeal Pictures in 1994 and produced several US cinema films and TV series over the following 10 years, including Simpatico with Sharon Stone, Jeff Bridges and Nick Nolte as well as the TV series American Fighter Pilot, which was created in collaboration with Tony and Ridley Scott.

After completing an MBA at IMD, Lausanne, and subsequently working as a manager for a German trading company, he returned to the film industry in 2012 as a producing partner of Syrreal Entertainment GmbH, Berlin, as well as a producer of several cinema documentaries made in the USA. During this time, he was jointly responsible for the Holocaust documentary No Place on Earth and the first Netflix documentary The Short Game, among others.

Since July 2015, he has been a managing partner of Tobis GmbH, Berlin. In addition to acquisitions, he is also responsible for the production and development of cinema and TV productions.

Tobi's first in-house production DAS SCHÖNSTE MÄDCHEN DER WELT attracted more than 500,000 viewers to cinemas in 2018 and was nominated for three German film awards, including Best Film of the Year.

The next Tobis production, CATWEAZLE, became the fourth best-selling German cinema film in 2021 despite the pandemic and won the Bavarian Film Award Audience Award in May 2022.

Tobi's latest production JAGDSAISON, directed by Aron Lehmann, will premiere at Filmfest München 2022.
