ZDF Studios GmbH is a privately owned subsidiary of ZDF, one of the largest television broadcasters in Europe. Founded in 1993 and headquartered in Mainz with branch offices in Cologne, Munich and New York, the group is responsible for programme acquisition, distribution and co-productions in the business areas of production, distribution and services with its more than 30 subsidiaries and associated companies such as Bavaria Fiction GmbH, Network Movie Film- und Fernsehproduktionen GmbH in Germany, Off the Fence Holding B.V. in Amsterdam and World Media Rights Ltd. in London.
In order to further drive the development of innovative, outstanding and high-quality programmes, a comprehensive strategic partnership with the BBC's production and distribution subsidiary has also been in place since 2019.
