Kordes & Kordes Film was founded in Berlin in 2003 by sisters Alexandra and Meike Kordes. Since then, the company has successfully produced cinema and television films that have been honoured with more than 170 national and international awards. These include the German Film Award in Gold and the Golden Cup of the Shanghai International Film Festival for FOUR MINUTES, for which the producers were also honoured with the VGF Young Producer Award of the Bavarian Film Prize. They also received the Special Jury Prize at the Rome International Film Festival and the main prize at the Minsk International Film Festival for POLL, the Günter Rohrbach Prize for EIN JAHR NACH MORGEN and the Grimme Prize for FAMILIE LOTZMANN AUF DEN BARRIKADEN. The family film DIE SCHULE DER MAGISCHEN TIERE, based on the bestselling book series of the same name by Margit Auer, is the highest-grossing film of 2021/22 in German cinemas with 1.7 million viewers. The company has realised international co-productions with France, Estonia, Austria, Poland and Switzerland. In addition to its headquarters in Berlin, the Kordes & Kordes Film Branches in Stuttgart and Cologne. Kordes & Kordes Film Süd opened in Munich in 2007.
