The New Bioscope is an established independent film production company based in Munich, Leipzig and Mannheim, which was founded in 2001. The name Bioskop is closely linked to German film history. The "old" Bioskop, which was founded in 1973 by Volker Schlöndorff, Reinhard Hauff and Eberhard Junkersdorf, characterised the New German Cinema. Its best-known film was Volker Schlöndorff's DIE BLECHTROMMEL, which won the Palme d'Or and the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film.

Dietmar Güntsche joined the "old" Bioskop Film in 1996. Since 2001 he has headed the New Bioskop film as managing partner. Over the past 25 years, numerous productions have been created, including national and international cinema films, TV and streaming productions and documentaries. In 2009, Dietmar Güntsche founded the New Bioskop Televisionwhere Christian Balz also works as managing director. In 2012, Dietmar Güntsche and his business partner Michael Kölmel founded Weltkino Filmverleih in Leipzig, which markets and distributes national and international cinema films.
