The Franz Seitz Film Production has always been an important player in German film history since it was founded in 1956 by Franz Seitz (1921- 2006). Against the backdrop of the recently survived war, reconstruction and later the German economic miracle, Franz Seitz succeeded in producing over 80 films, writing 40 screenplays and directing 11 films himself. He won numerous awards and was one of the most important German film producers, producing major literary adaptations such as DIE BLECHTROMMEL, WÄLSUNGENBLUT, DOKTOR FAUSTUS, HERZFLIMMERN, DER JUNGE TÖRLESS and DER ZAUBERBERG. The Seitz Filmproduktion GmbH is now a family business. Since the death of Franz Seitz, it has been run by his son Peter Seitz as Managing Director and his daughter Anni Seitz.
