Leonine has acquired one of the most important productions on the market in Cannes. The German studio secured the distribution rights for the new action thriller "Sugar Bandits" starring Will Smith. In addition, Leonine has also acquired the rights to Ron Howard's current film "Eden".

Will Smith is bringing a film with a production budget of USD 80 million to the international market with his new project "Sugar Bandits". He is not only the lead actor, but also the producer of the film, which was produced by Westbrook Studios, AGC Studios and 3 Arts Entertainment. Italian director Stefano Sollima, known for his work in gangster films, directed the film from a screenplay based on Chuck Hogan's novel "Devils in Exile". The film was presented in Cannes and the rights for Germany and Switzerland were acquired by Leonine, who also took over Ron Howard's latest thriller "Eden" with stars such as Daniel Brühl and Jude Law. AGC Studios acts as financier and production company for both films. Stuart Ford, CEO of AGC Studios, is optimistic about the potential of both films and emphasises their strength on the international market. The cinema release of "Sugar Bandits" in the USA is planned for September, while a German release of Leonine has not yet been confirmed.
