During the members' meeting of the umbrella organisation of the film industry (SPIO), Björn Böhning, Managing Director and Spokesman of the Board of the German Producers' Film and Television Alliance (Produktionsallianz), was elected as the new President and Peter Schauerte, Managing Director of AllScreens Verband Filmverleih und Audiovisuelle Medien e.V., as the new Vice President.

Christian Sommer, a long-standing member of the Executive Board and President of SPIO since 2021, had previously announced that he would be stepping down for professional reasons. This announcement necessitated early elections. In addition to Björn Böhning and Peter Schauerte, the current board members Christine Berg (HDF KINO e.V.), Oliver Fock (Cineropa e.V.) and Stefan Birkenholz (FDW Werbung im Kino e.V.) were confirmed in their positions. Julia Maier-Hauff (Produzent*innenverband e.V.) was newly elected to the six-member executive committee.

SPIO President Björn Böhning said: "I would like to thank Christian Sommer for his outstanding commitment as President of the SPIO. With prudence, a steady hand and a clever head, he has guided the fortunes of the SPIO in recent years. I am delighted with the trust placed in me by the SPIO members and will work to ensure that the film industry grows closer together and that its common interests are heard in politics and business. The framework conditions for the film industry and Germany as a business location are decisively shaped by European legislators. That is why we want to continue and intensify the representation of the interests of the film and television industry at EU level. At national level, we as an industry must work in a consensus-orientated manner. In order to strengthen cohesion and improve the networking of our industry, we have set ourselves the goal of developing new formats and structures."
