Another ZDF Saturday crime series is currently being filmed in Jena and the surrounding area, focussing on forensic investigations. A new duo is at the start: Emily Cox as forensic pathologist, lecturer and forensic entomologist Dr Mala Murphy and Golo Euler as Jena Chief Inspector Moritz Herbst. The screenplay was written by Khyana el Bitar. The film is directed by Judith Kennel.

The film will be shot until 8 November 2024 and is produced by Tanja Ziegler, Ziegler Film. Matthias Pfeifer is the ZDF editor. A broadcast date has not yet been set.

Emily Cox and Golo Euler replace the previous Jena investigators Nina Gummich as forensic scientist Theresa Wolff and Aurel Manthei as chief inspector Bruno Lewandowski, both of whom are leaving the series at their own request to take on new tasks. The crime thriller from Thuringia continues to rely on Peter Schneider as forensic pathologist Dr Zeidler and Sahin Eryilmaz as detective Ceyhan Topal.

Three new episodes with the existing cast will be broadcast on ZDF under the series title "Theresa Wolff", before Emily Cox and Golo Euler take over the investigation of capital crimes in the up-and-coming university and industrial city of Jena under the new title "Thüringenkrimi".
