On 21 November, the German Short Film Award were awarded. Minister of State for Culture and the Media, Claudia Roth, has now announced which films can hope to be honoured.

A total of 12 films were submitted in five categories from a field of 273 applicants. The nomination alone earns the filmmakers 15,000 euros, while the winning films receive an additional 30,000 euros. This makes the German Short Film Award the most highly endowed short film award in Germany.

In the category for medium-length films with a running time of more than 30 to 78 minutes, the winner has already been decided: Annika Mayer's "Home Sweet Home", which was last shown at DOK Leipzig. Daniel Huss' "Melodies of Barking Dogs" is in the running in the category for feature films with a running time of up to 10 minutes.
