After more than 30 years: Uwe Geißler leaves MDR Media

How the Press Release is the result of the MDR Media GmbHa 1001TP3 subsidiary of Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk (MDR), is undergoing organisational restructuring: After more than 30 years in the service of MDR, long-standing Managing Director Uwe Geißler is retiring on 31 December 2024. Co-Managing Director Reinhard Hild will take over the overall management of the company for the time being.

"Uwe Geißler was instrumental in building up MDR Media - then still DREFA Media Holding GmbH - and developing it further in the interests of MDR. Under his leadership, the company has established itself as a reliable and innovative partner for MDR and an important player in the regional and national media industry," said Ralf Ludwig, Director General of MDR and shareholder of MDR Media GmbH, in recognition of Uwe Geißler's achievements.

The future management will be supported by a strengthened team of authorised signatories: In addition to Barbara Ottow (Strategy and Principles) and Dirk Kretzschmar (Investment Management), André Hoffmann will take over the focus on advertising marketing from 2025. MDR Media GmbH thus considers itself well equipped to further strengthen its role as a central service provider and partner of MDR and to consolidate its position in the media market.
