The Film Funding Act (FFG) remains a key issue between politicians and the film industry. Although the current version of the FFG was developed by the current governing parties, it is still unclear whether and when the law will be finalised and passed by the Bundestag.
Constantin Film, Leonine and UFA have now taken this uncertain situation as an opportunity to publish a statement, which was shared on LinkedIn by Leonine and others. In this joint appeal, Constantin Film, Leonine and UFA urge the governing parties to take action:
"We urgently appeal to the FDP, CDU/CSU, SPD and B90/The Greens to jointly pass the reformed Film Subsidies Act in the Bundestag on Thursday.
The parties of the traffic light coalition and the CDU/CSU have jointly shaped the reform, but now the joint work threatens to fail - and the financing of cinema films in Germany is at risk. This would not only be a serious setback for the German film industry, but also for our international reputation and competitiveness.
Set an example of trust and reliability together and across party lines!
Vote in favour of the reform of the Film Promotion Act - for the success of German film in the world."
