The newly founded Hangar-Studio GmbH took over the Hangar-Studio in Berlin on 1 January 2025. It was previously operated by Visasvis Filmproduktion GmbH. Hangar-Studio GmbH is headed by managing directors Thilo Strack and Mike Zimmermann. The previous managing directors Stephan Horst and Marcel Neumann will accompany the initial phase to ensure a seamless transition of all existing productions and customer relationships.

Hangar-Studio GmbH is managed by two experienced industry experts. Thilo Strack, Managing Director of Rent Event Tec GmbH, brings extensive expertise in the field of virtual production and event technology. Rent Event Tec operates several state-of-the-art XR studios in Germany under the LEDcave brand, including locations in Mannheim, Cologne and Berlin. These studios use state-of-the-art LED technology that has been specially developed for virtual film, advertising and event productions.

Mike Zimmermann, Managing Director of the LichtHaus Group, heads one of the leading companies in the film technology and studio sector. The LichtHaus Group offers complete solutions in the areas of camera, lighting, rigging and grip and thus supports film and television productions at the highest level. The LichtHaus Group also operates as a studio operator and production office provider.

The Hangar Studio continues to operate as a classic advertising and film studio. With its 5 metre turntable and its vertically and horizontally movable rigging ceiling construction, this studio is a jewel in the German and even European studio landscape.

The existing business areas are complemented by innovative technologies:

  • Virtual Production: The integration of LEDcave technology makes it possible to create digital environments in real time, opening up new creative possibilities for productions.

In addition, another large LED wall will be installed on the LichtHaus Group's premises in the immediate vicinity of the hangar studio. This will make it possible to operate two independent sets with different requirements in parallel in future.

This means that both studios, the Johannisthaler Filmatelier and the Hangar Studio, can be used for both classic and virtual production.

Stephan Horst, Managing Director of Visavis Filmproduktion GmbH: "We are convinced that the Hangar Studio has a great future ahead of it under the new management of Thilo Strack and Mike Zimmermann. Their expertise and the planned expansions will make the location even more attractive for customers."

Thilo Strack, Managing Director of Hangar-Studio GmbH: "With the takeover of Hangar-Studio and the addition of virtual production technologies, we want to strengthen Berlin as a media location in the long term and offer our customers maximum flexibility and state-of-the-art production options."

Mike Zimmermann, Managing Director of Hangar-Studio GmbH: "I am very pleased to be managing Hangar-Studio in the future. Our aim will be to further expand our traditional film and advertising business. In co-operation with LEDcave, we are also looking forward to being able to offer virtual productions in the future. LEDcave is now one of, if not the major player in this field. What belongs together is now coming together."
