The 42nd international FILMFEST MÜNCHEN takes place from 27 June to 6 July 2025 and presents its new design.

This year, FILMFEST MÜNCHEN will once again have an animated key visual at the centre of its design. Film footage looking down on a moving water surface shows the reflections of the sun. This motif was creatively designed by the Munich design studio c100 together with the non-binary artist:in PPPANIK and once again immerses us in a summery, rich blue-green world of colour flooded by the sun - a symbol of the Munich summer.

And thus also for FILMFEST MÜNCHEN, which as an audience festival and industry get-together presents new film trends and tendencies in a relaxed summer atmosphere and facilitates new networks and friendships.

Festival period and programme

The festival period from 27 June to 6 July 2025 can already be firmly marked in the calendar. After a successful premiere in 2024, this year's festival will once again begin with a warm-up day on Friday (27 June) for the industry and the public. On this day and the first weekend, FILMFEST MÜNCHEN will also co-operate with the Kunstareal festival taking place at the same time.

On Saturday evening (28 June), the festival will celebrate its opening at Gasteig HP8 (by invitation).

The film programme will then run from Sunday (29.6.) to Audience Sunday (6.7.) in all festival cinemas (information to follow). FilmTalks and panels will again mainly take place in the festival centre, which will also be located in the Amerikahaus on Karolinenplatz in 2025. The final Public Sunday (6 July) will once again make the festival highlights accessible at a reduced admission price.
