The German Film Academy has a new presidium: actress Vicky Krieps and director Florian Gallenberger were elected by the members. Gallenberger, who is one of the founding members, succeeds Alexandra Maria Lara, who did not stand for re-election after three years. Both emphasised their pleasure and responsibility in representing German film and promoting the Academy's values such as cosmopolitanism, artistic excellence and diversity.

In addition, seven new members were elected to the Executive Board. Dirk Beinhold and Emely Christians are now in charge of the Animated Film section, while Judith Angerbauer (Screenplay) and Jan Krüger (Production) have joined the full board. Martin Farkas, Claudia González Espíndola and Thomas Wendrich became deputy board members. The long-standing Chairman of the Board Benjamin Herrmann and Managing Director Heide Schwochow are stepping down after ten years; a new Chairman will be elected in March.

The extended board is made up of members from various areas of filmmaking, from acting and directing to production and animation.
